Renew Oregon is the campaign to move our state away from dirty, polluting energy to a clean energy economy. We are engaged in a multi-year effort to advance policy and significantly increase public support for addressing climate change. We can spur national action on climate change through state and regional policies that align environmental and economic objectives.


We are currently engaged in working to pass a statewide price and cap on climate pollution, investing the proceeds in clean energy job training and development, energy and water efficiency projects, affordable housing and other clean economy opportunities. Northeastern Oregon, from Pendleton to La Grande to Baker City, stands to benefit greatly from clean energy investments and energy efficiency upgrades. The Northeast Oregon Representative will be a part of the core team working with a statewide coalition to bring leaders and constituents into the conversation about what a cap and trade program can do for communities in eastern Oregon.

The Northeast Oregon Representative will report directly to the Coalition Director. The purpose of this position is to engage local leaders, businesses and community members to become active in the discussions of a cap and invest program in Oregon.


  • Identify key leaders in the community (business, political, civic) to cultivate their involvement in the Clean Energy Jobs campaign

  • Hold listening sessions with community leaders to gain understanding of how the investments from a cap and invest program could best benefit northeastern Oregon

  • Hold informational meetings, with the support of our policy team, to educate local leaders on economic benefits of a cap and invest program for the region.

  • Identify personal stories of individuals connecting with climate impacts or clean energy solutions to share with media and decision-makers.

  • Establish strong communication with local legislative district offices.

  • Plan and execute a town hall for the Clean Energy Jobs bill in the lead up to 2018’s legislative session to draw participation for the campaign from across northeastern Oregon.

  • Ensure data is collected and shared with central staff in a timely and accurate fashion.

  • Must be based locally with strong ties to the community and region.

  • Ability to identify community leaders, engage them on the campaign, and move them to take action line with our goals and strategic direction.

  • Ability to work independently and remotely – must be skilled at reporting and tracking progress towards goals.

  • Ability to work on nights and weekends as needed.

  • Being goal-oriented and work well under pressure.

  • Ability to travel throughout the northeast region of the state, from Boardman to Baker City.

  • Has fun working hard with a hard-working crew.


COMPENSATION: This position’s hours are flexible, from part-time to full-time commitment. $1500-$3500/month, plus travel stipend. Salary will depend on time committed and experience level.
