Renew Oregon is the campaign to move our state away from dirty, polluting energy to a clean energy economy. This is a multi-year effort to advance policy and significantly increase public support for addressing climate change. We can spur national action on climate change through state and regional policies that align environmental and economic objectives.

Description of Duties

As a finance intern, you will be part of the fundraising team charged with implementing a highly ambitious plan to build the climate movement in Oregon. The finance intern will report directly to the Finance Manager and will have the opportunity to work on a variety of fundraising projects; you’ll gain experience identifying donors, preparing fundraising requests, and assisting with grassroots donor cultivation. Ideally, you are a highly motivated and politically driven individual with a passion for progressive issues and a desire to drive positive change in our environment. Must be goal-oriented and work well under pressure.

Core Duties Include:

  • Major donor cultivation: Help research, identify, and target potential campaign supporters, and manage the key tracking and follow-up systems

  • Event planning: Help create donor events and fundraisers, provide support during the event, and help drive follow-up efforts

  • Database management: Ensure critical giving data is updated timely and accurately 

  • Grassroots donor cultivation: Assist with mailings, filing, and other broad-targeted projects.

  • Other projects as assigned: Help our team take advantage of unexpected opportunities

Position Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including strong written, and verbal, and phone communication skills are critical to building important relationships in this position

  • Strong writing and research abilities.

  • Ability to work both independently and in team settings.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office Suite and Google Docs

  • Campaign or fundraising experience is preferred, but not necessary. 

  • Proficiency in NationBuilder or another donor database helpful but not required.

Time Commitment

A minimum of 10 hours per week is required for this position.

Compensation and Benefits

This is an unpaid internship. Arrangements can be made to assist in getting college credit if it is available through your college or university.
