I will answer the call to protect creation for the good of all mankind
Creation is not a property, which we can rule over at will; or, even less, is the property of only a few: Creation is a gift, it is a wonderful gift that God has given us, so that we care for it and we use it for the benefit of all, always with great respect and gratitude. -- Pope Francis, May 21, 2014
We are called to care for creation. We share this place on Earth with other living creatures and our descendants will inherit what we leave behind. Climate change must be addressed. Quite simply, it is a moral issue.
As people of faith, we must protect the vulnerable. Climate change affects all our lives, but none more than those who can least afford it. Unless we act, drought will drive up food prices, health will suffer, and jobs will be lost.
Oregonians are committed to transitioning off of dirty, polluting energy to an efficient, clean energy economy for good paying jobs and healthy communities.
I PLEDGE TO:
- Transition Oregon off coal power to clean energy sources like solar, wind and energy efficiency.
- Support good-paying jobs and healthy communities for all Oregon families.
- Hold big polluters accountable for the true cost of their carbon pollution.
- Expand clean fuel choices and options for transit
